Shapers Stylists do not just shape peoples hair but their lives as well.  We are making changes in the community, a little at a time!  For years, giving back to our community by sharing the gift of beauty with charitable organizations and local events has been a huge part of who we are at Shapers Salon. We have donated our services for hair and makeup to local school plays, commencements, and the Festival of Trees Holiday Fashion Show. We have raised funds for Talbot Relay for Life, Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence, Johns Hopkins Pediatric Cancer Center, WBOC's Bless Our Children, Breast Cancer Awareness, Talbot Special Riders, Critchlow Adkins, and many more. We are "Hairdressers with Hearts"

We want to know how we can help you!

Below are only a few of the many events and organizations Shapers Salon has participated in to help those in our community and beyond.

2017 Charity Event was the local nonprofit organization - Critchlow Adkins Children's Centers. Using age appropriate curriculum in the appealing settings of five centers, the centers teachers engage and nurture children ages two, three, and four in year-round Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs as well as children in Kindergarten through sixth grade in Before- and After-School.

Our November 22, 2017 Charity recipient will be Critchlow Adkins Children's Centers.  They are a non profit organization that provide quality educational childcare for ages 2 through 13.  The Centers also offer tuition assistance to many families from the generosity and financial support from individuals, businesses and foundations in the community. Stop by our open house and purchase a poinsettia or LuLaRoe clothing to show your support from 9-6.

The charity we chose in 2015 is "The Peggy Bank Fund". It was started in memory of Peggy Shaw Rosato by her loving husband, Dr. Ed Rosato, and friend Shelly Abbott. The fund helps cancer patients in time of crisis. Money submitted to the fund has been allocated to the following areas: 40% Electric and Heating, 30% Transportation Expenses, 15% Dental Needs and 15% Miscellaneous Holistic and self-care necessities.

The 2015 poinsettia fundraiser was for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library!

In August of 2015, we also hosted Root Beer and Braids

SHAPERS HAIR SALON SHARES HAIR TINSEL AT WASHINGTON COLLEGE

Picture
In addition to hair feathers and extensions, Shapers Salon and Spa now offers hair tinsel services to groups hosting local fundraisers. For the past few years, Shapers has helped nonprofit groups raise funds for various causes by offering hair feathers and extensions to fundraiser attendees for a charge and then donating a portion of the proceeds to the cause. While those services have been popular, Shapers wanted to tap into what owner Rebecca Warrington described as "the newest craze" hair tinsel.
The tinsel comes in an array of colors and can either be paired with a feather or extension, or be attached by itself, Warrington said. Unlike Christmas tree tinsel, the hair tinsel won't melt easily, allowing it to withstand a flat iron, curling iron or hair dryer, Warrington said.
The tinsel still has the spirit of the holidays, though, Warrington said, which makes it ideal for the season.
Employees of the salon recently offered the tinsel at a fundraiser at Washington College held by the women's volleyball team. The fundraiser benefited Tanner's Touch, a nonprofit organization developed to raise money for pediatric cancer research at Johns Hopkins Medicine, as well as families of children with cancer.
That same organization will be the beneficiary of Shapers Holiday Open House, being held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the salon's location on Needwood Avenue in Easton. Hair feathers, extensions and tinsel will be available for purchase at the event, which also will feature the "Bliss Mobile," Bliss Jewelry and Gifts' mobile showroom.
A portion of the proceeds from salon services and jewelry sales will benefit Tanner's Touch.
Other organizations Shapers has supported include the Girl Scouts and Chesapeake Christian School.
The salon also regularly donates its hair and makeup services to the casts of local high school plays.

TALBOT SPECIAL RIDERS

Picture
In 2013, we selected Talbot Special Riders, Inc. Therapeutic Horseback Therapy as our charity.

Talbot Special Riders, Inc., a non-profit organization, is a therapeutic horseback riding program providing therapy for physically, mentally and emotionally challenged individuals.  Founded in 1981, it is the only program of its kind in Talbot County, Maryland.  The entire program is run by a dedicated group of volunteers.
The program’s goal is to build confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of accomplishment.  Riders also improve their attention span and their ability to follow directions.  We work on coordination and spatial relationships as well as stretching and strengthening exercises.  It is rewarding to see the progress that the riders make.  Whatever the progress, it is a wonderful experience for the riders.  The volunteers gain a great satisfaction in helping others

WBOC BLESS OUR CHILDREN FOUNDATION

Picture
Every year WBOC works to make the holiday season brighter for Delmarva's less fortunate children with the Bless Our Children campaign.
For more than a decade WBOC has teamed up with local residents to raise money to buy Christmas presents for needy children in our area. Through your generosity we raised more than $182,000 in donations in 2011.  The money raised for Bless Our Children is distributed to charitable groups all across the peninsula. These charities then buy toys for children they know are in need, making sure they have a present to open on Christmas morning that comes from the heart. If your non-profit organization would like to apply for Bless Our Children funds. There are also many fundraisers held throughout the year to help the program, including school supply drives, which help provide school supplies to students in need.
Your donations to the Bless Our Children campaign will help children in need all year long, with a variety of donations. The money you give goes toward children in need on Delmarva.

MATTER OF TRUST ECOLOGICAL PUBLIC CHARITY
  GULF COAST OIL SPILL

Picture

One Easton business-owner is doing her part to protect the environment and is hoping others in the area will join the cause.
Rebecca Warrington, owner of Shapers Salon and Spa, recently partnered with Matter of Trust's hair mat oil spill program that creates hair booms, basically recycled nylons stuffed with hair, that contain and soak up spilt oil in waterways. The salon, located at 413 Needwood Ave., will send all hair clippings to a company in the U.S. that manufactures hair booms and distributes them wherever necessary.
After hearing about the recent oil spill along the Gulf Coast, Warrington was eager to help out and, after some research, discovered the hair mat program. In addition to sending the salon's hair clippings, she encourages local salons and individuals to drop off their hair clippings at Shapers.

EASTON APRIL 28, 2015 — The dogs were howling last month and a few humans were right in there with them after they heard the new record-breaking totals raised during the annual animal shelter fundraiser, “Dancing for the Dogs.”

The event is sponsored by the Partners for Paws Endowment Fund along with Chesapeake Charities with the aim of raising funds for and awareness about the work in local animal shelters — specifically Talbot Humane, the Caroline County Humane Society and TomCat Solutions. The sparkling gala featured a dance contest, silent auction, and fundraising entertainment.

Major contributors to Dancing for the Dogs included Cross Court Fitness, Hill’s Drug Store, Suicide Bridge Restaurant, Blackthorne Irish Pub, the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, Adkins Arboretum, the Eastern Shore Dance Academy, the Mid-Shore Dance Academy, Shapers Salon, Talbot Tappers, Steve Moody Entertainment, Academy Art Museum, Hair O’ The Dog Wine and Spirits, Bannings Tavern, Troika Gallery, Washington Street Pub, Doc’s Downtown Grille, and The Star Democrat.
Proceeds from Dancing for the Dogs help to provide care to animals that have been surrendered, lost, abused or neglected.
