SHAPERS GIVES BACK

Giving Back

Shapers Stylists do not just shape peoples hair but their lives as well. We are making changes in the community, a little at a time! For years, giving back to our community by sharing the gift of beauty with charitable organizations and local events has been a huge part of who we are at Shapers Salon.

We have donated our services for hair and makeup to local school plays, commencements, and the Festival of Trees Holiday Fashion Show. We have raised funds for Talbot Relay for Life, Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence, Johns Hopkins Pediatric Cancer Center, WBOC's Bless Our Children, Breast Cancer Awareness, Talbot Special Riders, Critchlow Adkins, and many more. We are "Hairdressers with Hearts"

We want to know how we can help you!

The slide shows on this page showcase only a few of the many events and organizations Shapers Salon has participated in to help those in our community and beyond.

COVID did not stop our Poinsettia Sales!

Not only did we do it, and raise funds for Critchlow Adkins Children's Center, we had a tremendous turnout!

Thank you to each and every one of you! That is what Community is all about!

Here are some highlights from previous charity events and organizations that Shapers was honored to support.

The 2019 recipients were Care Packs for Kids, Critchlow Adkins Children's Centers and Food For Learning!

In 2018, Shapers was proud to help contribute to Talbot Mentors and Critchlow Adkins!

2017 Charity Event was the local nonprofit organization - Critchlow Adkins Children's Centers. Using age appropriate curriculum in the appealing settings of five centers, the centers teachers engage and nurture children ages two, three, and four in year-round Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs as well as children in Kindergarten through sixth grade in Before- and After-School.

Our November 22, 2017 Charity recipient will be Critchlow Adkins Children's Centers. They are a non profit organization that provide quality educational childcare for ages 2 through 13. The Centers also offer tuition assistance to many families from the generosity and financial support from individuals, businesses and foundations in the community. Stop by our open house and purchase a poinsettia or LuLaRoe clothing to show your support from 9-6.

The charity we chose in 2015 is "The Peggy Bank Fund". It was started in memory of Peggy Shaw Rosato by her loving husband, Dr. Ed Rosato, and friend Shelly Abbott. The fund helps cancer patients in time of crisis. Money submitted to the fund has been allocated to the following areas: 40% Electric and Heating, 30% Transportation Expenses, 15% Dental Needs and 15% Miscellaneous Holistic and self-care necessities.

The 2015 poinsettia fundraiser was for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library!

In August of 2015, we also hosted Root Beer and Braids.

Shapers styled hair and did make up for attendants at the Festival of Trees Fashion Show located at the Tidewater Inn.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

In 2012 Shapers Hair Salon hosted a Dress for Success event for clients of the Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence. Owner Rebecca Warrington and her staff, together with Lia Sophia, a jewelry consultant, Janet Ivans and Maryland Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene representative Judy Gaston, provided makeovers to clients of MSCFV. Clients also received donated clothing, jewelry and information to help them prepare to enter the workforce with confidence and self-esteem so they can obtain a rewarding career. Due to confidentiality, we cannot share photos of this sucessful event.

In 2013, we selected Talbot Special Riders, Inc. Therapeutic Horseback Therapy as our charity.

Talbot Special Riders, Inc., a non-profit organization, is a therapeutic horseback riding program providing therapy for physically, mentally and emotionally challenged individuals. Founded in 1981, it is the only program of its kind in Talbot County, Maryland. The entire program is run by a dedicated group of volunteers.

The program’s goal is to build confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of accomplishment. Riders also improve their attention span and their ability to follow directions. We work on coordination and spatial relationships as well as stretching and strengthening exercises. It is rewarding to see the progress that the riders make. Whatever the progress, it is a wonderful experience for the riders. The volunteers gain a great satisfaction in helping others

In 2012, The staff of Shapers Salon in Easton recently welcomed members of Girl Scout Junior Troop 906 to the salon to receive pink or purple hair extensions and nail polish, in recognition of October as breast cancer awareness month. The pink extensions represent breast cancer awareness, while the purple extensions represent all cancer awareness. Members of Shapers Salon who participated in the event were Christina Perry, Rebecca Warrington, Linda Emory, Kim Hardesty, Laura Marshall and Sarah Thompson.
